Mora, L. Sanchez & Miramontes Star in Titan Split Feb. 6, 2004-- Fullerton, Calif.
Cal State Fullerton split a pair of dual wrestling matches Friday
evening by nearly identical scores, losing a Pac-10 match to Cal State
Bakersfield, 24-18, and then defeating NAIA power Menlo College, 24-16.
The Titans are now 5-12 on the season and 2-6 in the Pac-10. No. 22-ranked
CSU Bakersfield improved to 12-1 and 7-1.
Juan Mora (141 pounds) and Leonel Sanchez (174) paced the Titans, each
scoring a pair of pins. But the biggest win of the night went to 125-pounder
Jesse Miramontes, who beat Bakersfields Efren Ceballos, ranked No.
1 in the Pac-10, by a 9-6 count. One of Moras pins was over Menlos
James Guizar, ranked No. 1 in the nation in NAIA ranks.
Fullerton has two dual matches remaining -- both on Feb. 15 at Wyoming
and Northern Colorado.
