Titans Face Oregon Triumvirate Jan. 7-- Redmond, OR
Cal State Fullerton visits Redmond, Oregon, this week to compete
in the Oregon Duals where the Titans will meet the three Pac-10 rivals
from that state -- Oregon, Oregon State and Portland State.
Fullerton is coming off a "learning experince" week as the Titans
challenged some of the nation's top wrestlers at the Lone Star Duals in
Grand Prairie, Teas, and in a "home" meet vs. No. 6-ranked Michigan.
The Titans lost all five dual matches but gained valuable experience against
top flight competition.
Leo Sanchez at 174 pounds and Landon Seefeldt at 196 were the top competitors
for Coach Dan Hicks. Sanchez went 3-1 in Texas including a win over No.
12-ranked Tyler Baier of Cornell and then beat Michigan's Nick Roy. Seefeldt
beat No. 4-ranked Matt Greenberg of Cornell during a 2-2 performance in
Texas and then won against Michigan. Greenberg had earlier beat the nation's
No. 2-ranked wrestler.
Brett Gordon (149) remains on the injured list with a broken hand and
he has been joined on the sidleines by 184-pounder Daniel Contreras, who
was hurt in Texas. Gordon and Seefeldt are ranked No. 3 in the Pac-10
at their weights and Sanchez is No. 4.
