Titans Win Third Straight, 29-12, Over Bears Dec. 10, 2004 – Fullerton, CA
Cal State Fullerton junior Risto Marttinen earned a
pin at 165 pounds and the Titans won seven of the 10 bouts on the night
en route to a 29-12 victory over Northern Colorado on Friday night at
Titan Gym.
Fullerton won its third consecutive dual meet in improving to 3-1 overall.
The Bears fell in their dual meet opener and are now 0-1 overall.
Marttinen earned his pin 46 seconds into the third period against Caleb
Van Vorst, giving the Titans a commanding 17-3 lead in the overall scoring
at the time. Five other Fullerton wrestlers earned major decisions on
the night, including Angelo Lago, who defeated Sean Coughlin, 20-6.
Jeff Silva, Jesse Taylor, Landon Seefeldt, and Jesse Miramontes were the
other major decision victories.
Northern Colorado's Kenny Hashimoto (141) and Shawn Hart (174) earned
wins for the Bears while Sam Safken won by forfeit at the heavyweight
class.
Cal State Fullerton returns to action on Dec. 19 as the Titans head to
Reno, Nev., for the Tournament of Champions.
