Titans' AD to Receive Appreciation Award
Nov. 4, 2004 -- Fullerton, CA

California USA Wrestling Inc. and its board of directors have designated Cal State Fullerton Director of Athletics Brian Quinn for their 2004 Appreciation Award for his efforts in maintaining the CSF intercollegiate wrestling program. The award will be presented by Rob Valerio of California USA Wrestling at the Titans' Annual High School Wresting Day on Friday, Nov. 19, when Fullerton hosts Stanford and Embry-Riddle.

The Appreciation Award is given to an individual or group who is instrumental in the support of Wrestling, at all levels

Quinn assumed the post of director of athletics at Cal State Fullerton on Jan.14, 2002. Under his leadership, the Titans are successfully weathering a state and systemwide fiscal crisis with minimal impact on student-athletes. Academic performances have improved dramatically and Titan Gym has undergone a dramatic facelift.

"The last two years, the popular decision would have been to cut wrestling and women's gymnastics to solve budget issues," said Valerio. "Quinn, from the start, has said he didn't come to Fullerton to cut sports but to make things better. He has stood up for wrestling in a big way. Without his support, Cal State Fullerton wrestling would have been added to the 80 other college programs in California that have been cut since the late 1970s."
