Freshman Cox Nets Nine Points in Intrasquad Game
AUG. 24, 2001 – Fullerton, Calif.

Titan freshman Kellie Cox notched nine points on the evening while senior Tennli Ulicny added two goals and an assist to help lead the Titan Blue squad to a, 6-3, victory on Friday night in an intrasquad scrimmage at Titan Stadium.

Cox, who had three goals and three assists in her exhibition debut for the Titans, would have broken the school record for points in a match if the statistics had counted. The school record is eight points accomplished by three different players, the last by Kim Gallo against Rider on Sept. 12, 1999.

Trailing 2-0 at halftime, the Blue squad eventually extended their lead to 6-0 thanks to a pair of goals by Cox and Ulicny. The White squad then responded with three unanswered goals in the final 10 minutes of play, two of those coming by the way of junior forward Kim Houg.

Cal State Fullerton will face Cal State Bakersfield on Sunday (Aug. 26) at 7 p.m. on CSUB’s main soccer field in the Titans’ final exhibition match of the season.

Fullerton will then kick-off the regular season by hosting the four-team FILA Classic on Saturday (Sept. 1) and Monday (Sept. 3) at Titan Stadium. The field will feature the No. 3-ranked University of Portland, No. 2-ranked UCLA, and the University of Denver.
