Titans Shut Down Wyoming for Third Straight Win
Sept. 28, 2001 – Fullerton, Calif.

Box Score

Cal State Fullerton freshmen Erica Jacalone and Kellie Cox each scored a goal as the Titans held off the visiting Wyoming Cowgirls by the score of 2-0 on Friday night in a non-conference women's soccer match at Titan Stadium

The Titans improved to 4-4-0 overall on the season and have won their last three straight matches and four of their last five. Wyoming fell to 2-4-1 overall on the season.

Jacalone got the Titans on the board first in the 68th minute, poking home the eventual game-winner thanks to a couple of passes from teammates Deanna Plascencia and Tennli Ulicny for the 1-0 lead. Plascencia crossed the ball from the right wing finding Ulicny's head in a crowd. Jacalone then shot the ball far post from eight yards out for a 1-0 lead.

After Wyoming threatened a couple of times at the doorstep of the Titan goal, Cox shut the door on the Cowgirls in the 89th minute, taking a through-ball in the box from teammate Jaimianne Doddridge and tapping past the outstretched goalkeeper for the insurance goal and a 2-0 lead.

Cal State Fullerton outshot Wyoming 41-5, including 23-3 in the second half. The Titans also held the advantage, taking 18 shots on goal to only four for the Cowgirls.

Cal State Fullerton next faces San Francisco on Sunday (Sept. 30) at 1 p.m. at Titan Stadium.
