Junior Nicole Mularkey
stole a clear and blasted a shot from 20 yards out for the game winner
in the 88th minute Sunday afternoon and Cal State Fullerton beat University
of San Diego, 2-1. Mularkey beat Torero keeper Libby Bassett to improve
Fullerton's record to 6-1-1 on the season while USD fell to 6-3-2.
Freshman Kandace Wilson
gave the Titans a 1-0 lead at 49:20 when she took a pass from Allison
Bowman to beat Bassett in the lower left corner. The Toreros tied
the match two minutes later when sophomore Brooke Roby capitalized on
an errant punched ball by Titan goalie Karen
Bardsley.
USD lost an apparent goal when the referee's whistle blew to end the first
half just before Michelle Rowe's break-away shot found the Titan net.
Cal State Fullerton returns to action this weekend as the Titans open
Big West Conference play with matches at Cal State Northridge on Friday
(Oct. 5) at 2:30 p.m. and at Pacific on Sunday (Oct. 7) at 12 p.m.
