Coaches Choose Titans to Repeat as Champs Aug. 26, 2002 Fullerton, Calif.
The Cal State Fullerton women's soccer team was chosen to repeat as champions
of the Big West Conference in a poll of the league's coaches released
by the Big West office on Monday morning.
The Titans, who finished 13-7 overall and 8-1 in the league in 2001 for
their first conference championship, received nine of the 10 first place
votes and 99 points overall. UC Santa Barbara was picked second with 81
points and Cal Poly, which received the final first-place vote, was chosen
third with 80 points.
Cal State Fullerton opens the season at home this weekend as the Titans
host UC Irvine and Eastern Washington for the 2002 Soccertown Classic
at Titan Stadium. The Anteaters and Eagles meet on Saturday (Aug. 31)
at 5 p.m. with Cal State Fullerton taking on its alumnae at 7 p.m.
The Titans and Eastern Washington will meet on Monday (Sept. 2) at 1 p.m.
