Cal Poly's Erin Martin scored in the third minute of the first overtime
to lift the visiting Mustangs to a 1-0 Big West Conference women's soccer
victory over host Cal State Fullerton on Friday night at Titan Stadium.
The Titans fall to 11-4-1 overall and 5-2 in the Big West Conference while
Cal Poly improved to 12-6 overall and 6-1 in league action.
Both teams played fairly even through the first two periods of regulation
despite the fact that Fullerton held a 16-7 advantage in shots at the
end of the second half.
Martin's goal came in the 93rd minute as she juggled it in the box and
popped it over the head of a leaping Titan goalkeeper into the upper right
corner for the game-winner.
Cal State Fullerton's best chance to end it in regulation came near the
end of the second half when Kandace Wilson (Walnut, Calif.) found the
ball at her feet on the left side and her shot went just high.
Wilson, along with senior Kim Houg (Upland, Calif.) led the team with
four shots apiece.
The Titans return to action on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 3) at 1 p.m. as
they take on first-place UC Santa Barbara at Titan Stadium.
