Flint's First Career Goal Gives Titans a 1-0 Victory

Fullerton, Calif. – Cal State Fullerton freshman Desiree Flint (Redondo Beach, Calif.) scored her first career goal just 4:44 into the match and the Titan defense made it stand up as they held off visiting Loyola College (Md.) for a 1-0 victory on Friday night at Titan Stadium.

Cal State Fullerton improved to 4-1-1 overall on the season, taking the first-ever meeting between the two schools. The Titans are 2-0-1 against first-time opponents this season, defeating Saint Mary’s and tying Washington. Loyola College fell to 2-3-0 overall.

Flint’s goal came in the fifth minute of the match, taking a short pass from senior Michele Bannister (Anaheim Hills, Calif.) and beating the goalkeeper near post one-on-one from about eight yards out for the match’s only score.

Titan freshman goalkeeper Karen Bardsley (Chino Hills, Calif.) had to make just one save while facing just two shots for her second career shutout. Greyhounds goalkeeper Erica Niemann made six saves on the night.

Cal State Fullerton outshot Loyola College, 19-2, and held a 7-1 advantage in shots on goal.

The Titans return to action on Friday (Sept. 27) as they host San Diego State in a non-conference affair at 7 p.m. at Titan Stadium.
