Bardsley Lost for the Season
Sept. 15, 2003 -- Fullerton, Calif.

Cal State Fullerton sophomore goalkeeper Karen Bardsley suffered a broken tibia of her right leg in the second half of the Titans' match with Washington on Sunday and is lost for the season.

Bardsley, the 2002 Big West Conference Freshman of the Year and a second-team Freshman All-American according to Soccer Buzz, was kicked in the leg by an attacking player out of the box going for a loose ball in the 3-0 loss to the Huskies, 28 minutes into the second half.

Bardsley made three saves and did not allow a goal in her first appearance of the year after a week-long tour of duty with the England Women's National Team.

She is the second Titan to suffer a season-ending injury in the last two weeks. Junior Kellie Cox was hit in the stomach and suffered a contusion and laceration to her liver in the Titans' season opener against Fairleigh Dickinson on Sept. 1.

Cal State Fullerton returns to action on Friday night as the Titans host Clemson in a 6 p.m. match. It is the first match of a doubleheader with the men's team as the Titans face Portland in the nightcap.
