Janke Named Big West Co-Player of the Week
Sept. 22, 2003 -- Fullerton, Calif.

Cal State Fullerton senior goalkeeper Laura Janke (Simi Valley, Calif.) was named the Big West Conference's Co-Player of the Week on Monday morning after a pair of stellar performances against Clemson and Boise State this past weekend.

She shared the honor with UC Irvine goalkeeper Marissa Welliver.

It is Janke's first career player of the week honor and the second for a Titan this season after sophomore Kandace Wilson won the award on Sept. 8. Janke becomes the ninth Fullerton player to win the award since the 2001 season.

Janke was 2-0 for the week with seven saves and a shutout against the nationally-ranked Tigers, including a stop on a first-half penalty kick to keep the match scoreless. She allowed just one goal and faced only four shots in a 4-1 win over the Broncos.

The Titans return to action on Friday night (Sept. 26) as they travel to UC Santa Barbara to open the Big West schedule at 7 p.m. at Harder Stadium. Fullerton them returns home on Sunday (Sept. 28) to host the Oregon Ducks at Titan Stadium at 1 p.m.
