Bardsley
Called up to England National Team August 15, 2003 – Fullerton, Calif. Cal State Fullerton sophomore goalkeeper Karen Bardsley (Chino Hills, Calif.) was called up as one of 24 players on the English National Team roster for upcoming international matches against Australia and Germany. Bardsley, who spent the better part of the summer training with and competing for England's U-19 Women's National Team at the European Championships, will be making her first international appearance with a national squad. She is the only player on the roster without an appearance for the national team. The match against Australia is scheduled for Sept. 4 and will be televised live by Sky Sports. England will then meet defending European champion Germany a week later on Sept. 11. Cal State Fullerton opens its 2003 season with an exhibition against the Mexican National Team on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m., and begins the regular season on Monday, Sept. 1, at 3 p.m. against Fairleigh Dickinson. ####
