Titans Add Five Players for 2005 Season March 11, 2005 Fullerton, Calif.
The Cal State Fullerton women’s soccer program signed five players
to join the Titans squad in the 2005 season Head Coach Ali Khosroshahin
announced Friday. Fullerton inked four freshman to National Letters of
Intent and added a transfer from 2004 California State JC Champion Cypress
Community College.
Cathi Dragna (Anaheim Hills, Calif./Canyon HS/Cypress CC)
scored twice in the championship game to help the Chargers to the state
title. A first-team All-Orange Empire Conference selection in 2004, she
finished her sophomore season with 11 goals and five assists (27 points)
in helping Cypress to a 22-1-1 overall record and a 14-1-1 mark in league
play.
“With the career-ending injury to Allyson Lem, Cathi finally addresses
the lack of depth that we have had in central defense,” Khosroshahin
said. “She is a very athletic player who will be a force in the
air for us.”
The incoming freshman class features three players from Southern California
and a player from New Jersey.
Erica Peshken (Succasunna, N.J./Roxbury HS), the lone
forward in this year’s recruiting class, helped lead her team to
a berth into the NJSIAA Group IV State Championship game. She scored 21
goals and had 27 assists for the Gaels, who finished 21-3-2. She was named
an NSCAA Regional All-American, earned All-State honors from the Associated
Press, Star Ledger, and Daily Record, while also being named the Daily
Record’s Player of the Year.
“Erica is very exciting, fast player that will bring some scoring
punch to our team,” Khosroshahin said. “She has good skills
and has a lot of composure in the box. We are very excited about bringing
a forward of her caliber to our program.”
Jenna Oltmanns (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza HS) was
a first-team All-CIF Division I First Team selection as a junior and was
named to the All-Sunset League Second Team. She helped Esperanza HS to
a CIF Semifinal berth in 2003-04 and was also a second-team All-County
member as voted by the Orange County Register.
“Jenna is a solid, steady defender who is very versatile and can
play anywhere in the back,” Khosroshahin said. “She was very
fired up to become a Titan, and we always seem to do very well with local
kids that want to wear the ‘F’ on the jersey.”
Casey Schostag (Valley Center, Calif./Valley Center HS)
has earned all-league honors in the past two seasons, including CIF Second
Team honors and first-team All-League laurels in 2004.
“We stole one here,” Khosroshahin said. “She reminds
me of former Titan, Tennli Ulicny (1998-2001), with the way she plays
the game. Casey is a central midfielder with an unbelievable work rate
and is awesome in the air. Casey likes to touch every blade of grass on
the field. She is a very versatile player and will probably play alot
of different positions as a freshman.”
Jenesa Bradshaw (Bellflower, Calif./Gahr HS) helped lead
Gahr to a CIF title as a freshman and holds school records in the 800m
(2:18) and the mile (5:25). She was named the school’s Athlete of
the Year and MVP of the track team in 2004.
“We finally have a natural left-footed player with alot of pace
to be play the left back position,” Khosroshahin said. “She
has a lot of experience playing in some very big games already. We are
very happy to have signed a player of her caliber."
