Bardsley Called Up With England National Team Jan. 28, 2005 – Fullerton, Calif.
Cal State Fullerton sophomore goalkeeper Karen Bardsley has been selected
to be a part of the England Senior Women's National Team for an international
friendly against Italy on Feb. 17 at Milton Keynes Dons FC.
Bardsley previously spent the summer of 2003 with the England U-19 National
Team, playing all 360 minutes in net and helping her side to a semifinal
berth in the UEFA Women's U-19 Championships
in Germany.
She was also called up for two international friendlies against Australia
and Germany in August of that same year.
Bardsley, the 2002 Big West Conference Freshman of the Year and the 2004
Big West Goalkeeper of the Year, missed the team's first eight matches
of this season recovering from a broken leg suffered against Washington
on Sept. 14, 2003.
She was a first-team All-Big West selection after posting a 7-3-1 record
in net with a 0.71 goals against average.
