Women's Soccer Picked to Finish Third in Big West Aug.

The Cal State Fullerton women's soccer team was picked to finish third
in the Big West Conference in 2004 according to a vote of the league's
head coaches released by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
The Titans received 78 points and collected a first-place vote in finishing
third behind Cal Poly (18-2-2 in 2003), which was chosen to win its third
consecutive Big West title, and second-place UC Santa Barbara. The Mustangs
received nine of the 10 first place votes and 99 points overall. The Gauchos
(11-6-4 in 2003) received 84 points.
UC Irvine and UC Riverside formed the remainder of the top half of the
poll for fourth and fifth place, respectively. Long Beach State was picked
to finish sixth in the first season of head coach Mauricio Ingrassia.
The 49ers earned 50 points.
Rounding out the rest of the poll was Pacific, Cal State Northridge, Utah
State and Idaho. The Aggies and Vandals are competing in their final seasons
as Big West members.
Fullerton returns 11 letterwinners and nine starters from last season's
squad which finished 9-8-2 and tied for seventh overall in the league
with a 3-5-1 record.
The Titans open the 2004 season on Aug. 27 with their home opener against
perennial national powerhouse Pepperdine at 7 p.m at Titan Stadium.
