Dominate Titans' Alumni Meet AUG. 24, 2001 Fullerton, Calif. Steve and Heather-Killeen Frisone dominated Cal State Fullerton's annual varsity-alumni cross country "race" Friday evening on the Titans' campus. Steve, who set the school's 1,500 and 5,000 meter records in 1994, won the 5 kilometer race in a time of 15:23. Heather, who has held the school's women's records in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters since 1995, ran 18:27 to pace the women. Leading the way for the varsity was Bryce Lighthall for the men. The sophomore from Redding finished third in a time of 15:28. Leading the Titan women were Lakeysha McClenton and Danielle Hernandez, who both ran 19:32. Junior Leilani Rios, reinstated to the team earlier in the summer but not yet academically certified to compete in an official collegiate meet, was 11th among the women and 36th overall with a time of 23:38. Two local television crews, the Orange County Register and the Daily Titan covered the meet, which usually does not draw media attention. Cal State Fullerton assistant equipment manager Joe Camacho, 51, placed 39th with a time of 24:28 despite running a 10 K during his lunch hour. The Titans open the 2001 season on Saturday, Sept. 1, when they host the annual Jammin' Invitational at 8:30 a.m. at Carbon Canyon Regional Park, northeast of Brea, California. Stanford, UCLA, Long Beach State and several other local colleges and universities are expected to compete.
